A toothache is a lasting ache or pain in a tooth or a couple of teeth. A toothache can result from many factors but is often a result of a cavity or infection. It is important to get a toothache checked out by a dentist to resolve the discomfort as soon as possible. By waiting for the pain to resolve on its own, or trying to ‘tough it out’, the problem may become more severe and take longer or be harder to treat.
If you have a toothache, call your dental provider, and book an appointment to see them. If you are experiencing severe discomfort and cannot get a timely dental specific examination, a trip to the Emergency Department at your local hospital may be necessary.
